Origin and Mandate


The Central Detective Training Institute, Hyderabad was inaugurated on 28th September, 1964. After functioning in Intelligence Bureau till 1973, the Central Detective Training Schools were transferred to Bureau of Police Research & Development. The nomenclature of Central Detective Training School was changed to Central Detective Training Institute in 2017. The designation of Principal has been changed to Director.

In the year 2017, BPR&D has declared Central Detective Training Institute, Hyderabad as Centre of Excellence for Police Information Technology & Cyber Crime.

Mandate

The Mandate of the CDTI is to provide training to in-service police personnel of the rank of Sub-Inspectors to DySsP in order to enhance their investigative skills by:

  • Imparting latest knowledge of scientific techniques
  • Appraising them about best practices in investigation
  • Elevate the proficiency in latest developments in forensic science, cyber crime and cyber crime investigation & artificial intelligence
  • The main goal is to identify, collect, preserve and analyze data in a way that preserves the integrity of the evidence collected so it can be used effectively in a legal case.
